Introduction
Recent years, rapid development of web sites-related technology (Flash, Java Script, CSS
) makes lots web sites stylish and beautiful, and some of these get dynamic movement. That kind of web sites surely pleases us. However, Can we easily get the correct information that we really want to know? When we talk about that kind of problem, we need the concept of Web Usability.
International web standard created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
Extent to which a product can be used by specified users to achieve specified goals with effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction in a specified context of use.
When we think about Web usability, we just change the word product to the web sites. Then, I specify these three words in the Web Usability concept.
- Effectiveness
Accuracy and completeness with which users achieve specified goals
=Can we get all the correct information that we want to know?
- Efficiency
Resources expended in relation to the accuracy and completeness with which users achieve goals
=How much time and effort we spend to get information?
- Satisfaction
Freedom from discomfort, and positive attitudes towards the use of the web sites
=Can we use the internet with no stress?
Where is the Navigation?
For instance, it is assumed take for example that you are looking for a Wedding Hall. You type Wedding Hall in a Search Engine sites, like Yahoo, or Google. Then you click one link from your search results that you think is most suitable for you. However, all you see is a long image like a movie. If you want to know information such as plans or dishes, you dont know where you should click on the screen. Finally, you feel this is a troublesome web site, so you would click to another site.
