Welcome to Dalando'sPersonal Diet Dairy
The purpose of these reflections is the author's attempt to understand and deal with the mechanisms of his own despair.
While dieting is the stated objective, like all personal quests, each aspect of life is integral to the goal.
This will be tedious reading for anyone but the most dedicated explorers of the human psyche.

117 kg
There is some solace in knowing my weight has stabilized at 117... but my previous leveling points had been 113, 111, 103... and my goal is below a hundred. So the enormity of the task is intimidating. But more intimidating is the lack of consistency in the game plan. I had been regulating volume and moderating under the current weight watcher fashion of low fat consumption, following a near meatless diet. But there is another view, Atkins Nutritionals: What if It's All been a Big Fat Lie? What if all my fundamentals are off, even counter-productive?
Meanwhile there is also the level of self-development that works hand in hand with the dieting. I finally found the time and energy to work through the well written workbook "The Angry Self, A comprehensive Approach to Anger management" by Miriam M. Gottlieb, Ph.D. As a workbook I needed to invest the time to personalize and apply this text, but the content is so rich in both strategy and insight that the investment was worth it. I will read it again this week and try and apply the tactics suggested as the pressures build at work.
Dieting remains a mundane topic. People who are doing it are prejudiced to their own subjective view. Since so much is speculative, professionals are also tied to their own invested methodologies. Winging it, in a realm that spans the biological, sociological, and psychological, is ridiculous, yet in the end, what choice do we have? Either surrender to one narrow method (Atkins, Vegetarianism, low-fat, etc.) or improvise as you go. Invariably we all seem to have to wander lost among our options, trying this and that, until we somehow find a path that works for us, and keeps on working despite all the distractions. No wonder so many of us see dieting as Dante's Rings of Hell.
