110 kg

Back from Okinawa for a week now, I am trying to prepare for the next school term.

I am relieved the weight has not increased and has gone down as scheduled, one kilo per week. It is not easy and I continue to fight a nervous restlessness. Part of the problem is that I have not resumed my swimming. This is a false efficiency, as I suspect I would be working more relaxed if I was exercising, and the diet would feel less cumbersome. This week I want to try and get back into an exercise routine and tie up the backlog of paperwork still on my desk.

The success with my diet does fortify my self confidence, though conversely I must regulate my temperament. I am not particularly sweet consistently anyway but feeling unsatisfied orally can leave me grumpy. There is a balance in the Atkins diet but the lack of easy and appropriate choices leaves me at times unprepared. I need to be more imaginative and aggressive about shopping for appropriate foods and maintaining my exercise regime.

A friend has suggested a walking ritual he uses to lose weight. From his message:

"Now the deal with the walking is this. You get a pedometer and try and
hit 10,000 paces per day... and keep a log of it. That's not too hard on school days.
That level will maintain your weight. If you can average as much as 20,000 paces
you will lose weight no matter what you eat.
It takes about 2 hours of vigorous walking to make 20,000."

I do not know when or how I can implement his suggestion, but it is definitely worth trying.
